Info!

Hi there. Thank you for stopping by, taking a look, and shopping around! Here is some important information to keep in mind when purchasing from my shop:

Risograph printers were invented in Japan in the 1980s and replicate the screen printing process. The machines combine the high-speed efficiency of a photocopier with the vibrant, layered, and slightly imperfect aesthetic of screen printing. First, you create a "master" stencil for each color, wrapping it around an ink drum that forces soy-based ink onto uncoated paper in distinct layers. I use 80Lb white paper made by French Paper, an awesome Michigan-based company. Since we add one color at a time, this can cause slight differences in registration, which is what makes each print unique! There might also be something called roller-track transfers from the ink. My wonderful printers at So-and-So, located in Detroit, try to mitigate this as much as possible by printing from light to dark, but roller transfer still naturally occurs in this process. I quality-check to the best of my ability. It's all a part of the Risograph process. When all is said and done, you get this amazing tactile print.
